The ESB Program has been launched to improve understanding of the drivers for packaging development and the demand for packaging. An important potential benefit of the project is the creation of a platform for fact based stakeholder dialogue. For this reason a Stakeholder Committee has been proposed.
This Committee is intended as a consultative body to the Program. It is composed of representatives of stakeholder groups with an interest in packaging and environmental issues. These are identified as the following:
Packaging Chain Industries |
EUROPEN |
Packaging Technical Institutes |
STFI-Packforsk AB |
Developers of Packaging Policy |
European Commission |
Environmental Data Analysis |
European Environment Agency (EEA) |
Packaging Waste Recovery Organisations |
Pro-Europe |
Consumer Groups |
Representation is being sought |
Environmental NGOs |
Representation is being sought |
The Program is designed to provide relevant data and analysis to foster an improved understanding of packaging trends as an aid to maintaining continuous environmental improvement. Therefore, each representative stakeholder group is invited to submit observations and recommendations to the ESB Management Committee (MC) regarding the program with the aim of ensuring their respective opinion and needs are understood and, as far as possible, accommodated by its outcome.
It is anticipated the SC will meet once or twice per year during the course of the Program. Between meetings the SC will be informed in writing of the Program’s progress.
